Jeffrey Karen, DDS, Region 3 Trustee

Jeffrey Karen, DDS,  Massachusetts Dental Society Region 3 Trustee. When Jeffrey Karen, DDS, was in college, he spent his summers working part-time in a pediatric dental office. That experience taught him a lot about the dental profession and inspired him to pursue a career in dentistry. After graduating from the New York University College of Dentistry in 2002, Dr. Karen completed his residency in pediatric dentistry at St. Barnabas Hospital in 2005. Since then, he has been practicing pediatric dentistry in South Weymouth, MA. 

Now in his mid-career, Dr. Karen believes these are the peak years to contribute to organized dentistry because “you have the experience to know what is important, but you are still making decisions that will affect you’re the future of your career,” he shared. Dr. Karen is not new to MDS leadership. He served as the Chair of the MDS Dental Practice and Benefits and the South Shore District Chair.  

After a long day of work, Dr. Karen loves to spend time with family and especially enjoys listening to his kids talk about their day. With his favorite movie being Back to the Future, if Dr. Karen could switch places with anyone for the day, it would be the person who would invent time travel. The MDS is thrilled to have Dr. Karen as a Regional Trustee on the Board of Trustees for the 2023-2024 governance year. As a Regional Trustee, he will have the opportunity to play a significant role in setting the long-term direction of the MDS.
