Samantha Parad, DMD, RN, Guest Board Member

Samantha Parad, DMD, RN, Guest Board Member. Dr. Parad graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and entered the healthcare field as a registered nurse. During her nursing studies, she had the opportunity to explore dental medicine as a volunteer on the Penn Smiles bus—the University's pediatric mobile dental clinic. After discovering a desire to integrate oral and systemic health care, she went on to attend Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, graduating summa cum laude. Through the completion of Harvard School of Dental Medicine’s general practice residency program, she gained exposure to treating underserved populations with complex health conditions at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).

"I am so fortunate to have completed my residency at MGH. It has opened so many more doors than I could have ever imagined," she explained. This experience solidifies her most influential professional advice, "keep your opportunities open." Dr. Parad shared, "Although I was originally focused on working in private practice upon graduation, keeping an open mind has pushed me to follow many different paths, leading me to my current positions as an assistant professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, a hospital dentist at Franciscan Children's Hospital in Brighton, and a general dentist in a private dental office in Wakefield."

Combining her nursing background with dentistry, Dr. Parad is dedicated to improving interprofessional education to transform dental training and enhance patient care. When she is not delivering person-centered dental care, you'll find Dr. Parad cycling the Minuteman Bikeway or picnicking along the Charles River Esplanade.
