MDS Cares—Women's Lunch Place

67 Newbury Street (in the basement of the Church of the Covenant on the corner of Newbury and Berkeley Streets)
Mar 15, 11:00 AM - 2:30 PM

We are looking for five MDS member volunteers to be meal program assistants at the Women’s Lunch Place (WLP) in Boston from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm. WLP is a women’s shelter which offers programs that develop self-sustaining skills for women experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty. Volunteers will assist kitchen staff with food preparation, serving meals, and clean-up for the WLP lunch program. To learn more about what to expect when you arrive watch the brief Volunteer Training Video.

Kitchen Dress Code: The kitchen tends to be warmer, but we still need all volunteers dressed to code in order to participate. Volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, and a shirt with sleeves (short sleeves are fine, no tank tops). Volunteers must also have their hair pulled back and wear a hat or hairnet. We have both on site, but volunteers can also bring their own if they prefer. Masks are optional. Please refrain from wearing any bracelets, rings or watches while working in the kitchen. We have a closet where volunteers can leave their belongings as well.

Parking/MBTA: We unfortunately do not have any designated parking for WLP so the options would be street parking or nearby garages. We are very close to the Arlington stop on the Green line and also the Back Bay stop on the Orange line.

When you arrive enter the building near the corner of Newbury and Berkeley Streets. See the WLP sign and stairs leading down to the entrance.
