Khamir Mahesh Patel, DMD, Massachusetts Dental Society Guest Board Member. Whether he’s planning the perfect trip with friends or developing new approaches to improve patient care, Khamir Patel, DMD, enjoys solving complex problems. A seasoned dentist with 11 years of practice, Dr. Patel has built a career that blends healthcare, science, and innovation given by his desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. After graduating from Ahmedabad Dental College and Hospital in India, he earned his DMD with honors from the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He now practices on a limited basis while serving as co-founder and CEO of two dental technology startups, SmartChair. AI and DentalTechHub.
What has surprised Dr. Patel most about dentistry is the many paths available beyond clinical care. From education and organized dentistry to emerging technologies and business opportunities, he has discovered ways to grow and contribute that he never anticipated. While he is currently pursuing a combination of these interests, one piece of advice continues to guide him: “Make your decisions based on what is in the patient’s best interest. Everything else in dentistry may change, but putting patients first never will.”
His curiosity and interest in entrepreneurship extend beyond dentistry. When asked who he would trade places with for a day, he said the CEO of a major technology company. “I am curious to see how they keep such a large organization moving forward while managing so many competing priorities and complexities,” he shared. That being said, he wouldn’t trade his chosen career for anything. “Honestly, I love the path I have taken and who it has allowed me to become today.”
