Denise Salomon, DMD, was raised in Massachusetts and, at the age of 16, moved to the Dominican Republic (DR). She graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra dental school in Santiago, DR, before moving back to the United States. Her first experience with the Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS) came through the MDS Cares community service volunteer program, where she volunteered for several projects. She is also a recent graduate of the MDS Leadership Academy.
With a fascination for healthcare from a young age, Dr. Salomon grew up discussing her future with an aunt who was a trauma unit healthcare provider. After conducting in-depth research on career paths, she discovered that dentistry was the perfect fit for her creative and detail-oriented skills. Additionally, she loved the idea of restoring people’s smiles and improving their oral health.
Practicing at the North Shore Community Health Center for over a decade, Dr. Salomon was unexpectedly inspired by the emotional connection that dentists build with their patients. “I expected the technical and clinical challenges, but I didn’t anticipate how much trust patients place in you. Being able to help someone feel comfortable and confident again has been one of the most rewarding parts of the job,” she shared.
