Dr. Novy holds faculty appointments at three dental schools and treats patients in his private practice in Salem, Massachusetts. He served on the ADA Council of Scientific Affairs from 2011-2014 and is the president of the National CAMBRA Coalition. He studied voice performance at California Institute of the Arts, was the ringmaster of the Bugs Bunny Super Circus, and is an alumnus of Westmont College. After graduating with honors from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, he began teaching dental materials and became an early ADA Evidence Based Dentistry Champion, developing courses in cariology and evidence-based dentistry. He relocated to the DentaQuest Institute in New England and accepted a faculty appointment at Harvard School of Dental Medicine in the department of Oral Health Policy and Epidemiology. He is course director for cariology at Virginia Commonwealth University and is excited to be part of creating the Tanner School of Dental Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky. His determination to bring about salivary driven value based oral health care has taken him around the world sharing his Offensive Dentistry theories and techniques. Outside the classroom and operatory, Dr. Novy enjoys flyfishing and whitewater rafting while thinking about dental caries, so don’t get him started talking about teeth.
