Beacon Hill Day

On April 5, 2017 more than 200 members will take to Beacon Hill to lobby their legislators on the issues facing both dentists and dental students. This year on Beacon Hill Day, members will discuss dental service corporations, graduate education for certain professionals, medical loss ratio for insurance corporations and much more!

The MDS strongly encourages members to attend Beacon Hill Day and make your voice heard. If you aren't able to attend but would like to get more involved in the discussion, please consider joining the Grassroots Network.

Grassroots Advocacy
Grassroots AdvocacyGrassroots advocacy refers to a movement that grows spontaneously and naturally. This movement generally stems from a common interest or belief. At the MDS, grassroots advocacy stems from our members' common interest in a particular legislative goal. Currently, our members are rallying around non-covered services legislation, which will prevent dental benefits companies from setting fees for services for which they do not pay providers. Additionally, members are joining together to prevent legislation from passing in the State House that would create an advanced dental hygiene practitioner.

PAC

The Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS) Political Action Committee (MDS-PAC) is an independent, non-partisan, political organization solely dedicated to the advancement of the dental profession. With your help, the MDS-PAC is able to support candidates for elected office, attend fundraisers, and build relationships with political candidates. This ensures that the best candidates for dentistry are elected. Only the MDS-PAC, not the MDS, is allowed to participate in the election process. Legally, the MDS is prohibited from using dues to support political candidates. That is why you need to make a contribution to the MDS-PAC today. Without your support, the MDS-PAC cannot work toward protecting the interest of dentistry at the state house while ensuring that informed decisions are made on Beacon Hill. Support dentistry, contribute today!
