New Members to MDS Board of Trustees (May 2012 - May 2013)

At May’s House of Delegates, a total of six dentists were sworn in for the first time to serve on the MDS Board. Scroll down to learn a little bit more about the newest members of the MDS’s governing body. 

 

      

 

New Officer

Officers of the MDS are nominated by the Council on Nominations and elected by the House of Delegates at the Annual Session. 

 

Janis C. Moriarty, DMD, Assistant Secretary

Dr. Janis Moriarty has been a member of MDS since 1990. She is the former Middlesex District Trustee, has served as General Chair of Yankee Dental Congress and is a past chair of the Standing Committee on Women in Dentistry.

Dr. Moriarty received her dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and completed a general practice residency program at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

New Trustee

Each of the 13 district dental societies in the MDS elects one Trustee to the MDS Board for a three-year term that can be renewed once. 

 

Mary Jane Hanlon, DMD, Trustee, Middlesex District  

General Dentist Dr. Mary Jane Hanlon has been a member of the MDS since 1997. She is a graduate of the MDS Leadership Institute and was a past chair for the Council on Public Affairs. Dr. Hanlon is also currently active with the Middlesex District Dental Society, and represents the district on the Standing Committee on Women in Dentistry. 

Dr. Hanlon received her dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

Guest Board Members

The Guest Board Member Program encourages the diversity and multicultural demographics of the MDS Board of Trustees to better reflect the membership of the Society and to encourage involvement in the MDS and organized dentistry. Each year, four MDS members are selected to participate in Board of Trustee meetings, discussions, and events. Below are the Guest Board members for the current year.

   

Badrieh M. Edalatpour, DMD, Guest Board Member

Dr. Badrieh Edalatpour is a pediatric dentist and has been a member of the MDS since 1999. She currently serves on the Standing Committee on Women in Dentistry and has been a delegate to the MDS House of Delegates. She recently completed the two-year MDS Leadership Institute Program.

Dr. Edalatpour received her dental degree from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine and completed her a specialty program at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.

Neda Hovaizi, DDS, Guest Board Member  

Dr. Neda Hovaizi is a general dentist and has been a leader in organized dentistry in dental school and as a new dentist. She has participated in the Missions of Mercy program, Community Free Clinic Rotations and the American Dental Association's Give Kids a Smile Day. 

Dr. Hovaizi received her dental degree from the Virginia Commonwealth School of Dentistry.

Suneel Kandru, DDS, Guest Board Member

Dr. Suneel Kandru is an endodontist  practicing in a community health center. He is currently serving on the Boston Collaborative Group and is active with the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers. In addition, Dr. Kandru is an advisory board member for Smart Smiles Massachusetts, an consultant faculty at Lutheran Medical Center, and an Adjunct clinical instructor at Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine

Dr. Kandru received his dental degree from Manipal Academy of Higher Eduction, India and his certificate and Masters in Endodontics from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.

Priyadarshini Trikha, DDS, Guest Board Member 

General Dentist Dr. Priyadarshini Trikha has been a member of the MDS since 2008. She is currently in her second year of the two-year MDS Leadership Institute Program. Dr. Trikha was recently a delegate to the MDS House of Delegates, and is a member on the MDS Standing Committee on Legislation and Governmental Affairs. She is also an active volunteer with the Yankee Dental Congress, and a clinical instructor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in the Operative Department.

Dr. Trikha received her dental degree from New York University College of Dentistry.
