New Members to MDS Board of Trustees (May 2011 - May 2012)
At May’s House of Delegates, a total of six dentists were sworn in for the first time to serve on the MDS Board. Scroll down to learn a little bit more about the newest members of the MDS’s governing body.

New Officer
Officers of the MDS are nominated by the Council on Nominations and elected by the House of Delegates at the Annual Session.

William R. Dennis, DDS, Assistant Secretary
Dr. William Dennis, a Shrewsbury general dentist, has been elected Assistant Secretary. A member of the MDS since 1972, Dr. Dennis was recently a member of the Council on Dental Care and Benefits, and is also active within the Worcester District Dental Society. He has volunteered for the Yankee Dental Congress (YDC), and is a member of the MDS Council on Public Affairs.
Dr. Dennis received his dental degree from Georgetown University School of Dental Medicine.

New Trustee
Each of the 13 district dental societies in the MDS elects one Trustee to the MDS Board for a three-year term that can be renewed once.

Raymond (Jay) Wise, DDS, Trustee, Berkshire District
General Dentist Dr. Jay Wise has been a member of the MDS since 1988. He has been a delegate to the MDS House of Delegates and been a participant in the MDS Grassroots Legislative Contact Program. Dr. Wise is also currently active with the Berkshire District Dental Society, serving on its Continuing Education Committee
Dr. Wise received his dental degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry and completed a general practice residency program at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Indianapolis.

Guest Board Members
The Guest Board Member Program encourages the diversity and multicultural demographics of the MDS Board of Trustees to better reflect the membership of the Society and to encourage involvement in the MDS and organized dentistry. Each year, four MDS members are selected to participate in Board of Trustee meetings, discussions, and events. Below are the Guest Board members for the current year.

Kathy Alikhani, DMD, Guest Board Member
Dr. Kathy Alikhani is an endodontist and has been a member of the MDS since 1990. She is currently a member of the MDS Leadership Institute Ad Hoc Committee and serves on the Standing Committee on Women in Dentistry.
Dr. Alikhani received her dental degree from the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. She is a current member of the MDS Leadership Institute.
Dr. Alikhani maintains an endodontic practice at Norwell Endodontics at 353 Washington Street in Norwell, and her office phone is (781) 561-7400.

Margart R. Errante, DDS, DMD, Guest Board Member
General Dentist Dr. Margaret Errante has been a member of the MDS since 1984. She recently completed the MDS Leadership Institute Program.
Dr. Errante received her dental degree from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco.
She is currently director of the Boston University Dental Health Center, and her office phone is (617) 358-1009.

Nahal Panah, DMD, Guest Board Member
Dr. Nahal Panah is a general dentist who has been a member of the MDS since 2001. She has served as a delegate to the MDS House of Delegates, and is also active with the East Middlesex District Dental Society.
Dr. Panah received her dental degree from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.

Frank E. Schiano, DMD, Guest Board Member
General Dentist Dr. Frank Schiano has been a member of the MDS since entering dental school, and he completed his dental training in 2006. He recently completed the two-year MDS Leadership Institute Program. Dr. Schiano is also an active volunteer with the Yankee Dental Congress, as well as the League of Community Health Centers.
Dr. Schiano received his dental degree from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He is currently the dental director at Fenway Health at 1340 Boylston Street in Boston and can be reached at (617) 927-6125.

The MDS Board of Trustees is comprised of the Officers (President, President Elect, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Speaker of the House, and Immediate Past President) and one Trustee from each of the 13 District Dental Societies.
