Practice Management Community Outreach

Dental schools do not adequately teach students how to manage a dental practice. Dentists are required to deal with a variety of issues in addition to handling the clinical side of the office. Marketing, billing, staffing are all real issues that need to be mastered by dentists in order for a dental office to be successful.

Possible Solutions:

  • Start an online platform for MDS members to logon and share/discuss information on a practice management forum.
  • Produce short management videos from professional coaching companies and allow members to access some of their practice management tips.

The need for Oral health care in the communities is tremendous. There is an opportunity for the Massachusetts Dental Society to step forward and initiate community outreach programs to help address the oral health needs of the undeserved.

Possible Solutions:

  • Coordinate a volunteer opportunity at an existing event.
  • Enhance the Society’s Give Back A Smile web page and increase utilization.
  • Develop and implement a statewide campaign to educate school nurses on oral health issues.
