District Legislators' Nights provide dentists and area legislators an informal opportunity to discuss the issues regarding the field of dentistry as well as other local concerns that are before the General Court in the current legislative session. Dentists are able to build relationships with their legislators and further the goals of the MDS Grassroots Network.
The MDS's ambitious legislative agenda will continue in 2010, including working toward the enactment of the Pupil Dental Health Act, which will require that all public school students submit certification that they have received a dental exam within the last year, before entering kindergarten. The MDS is currently monitoring numerous bills pertaining to the field of dentistry that are before the legislature in the 2009-2010 session
It is vitally important for every lawmaker to become aware of the issues important to dentistry. District Legislators' Nights are another step in the continuing effort to communicate our concerns to our elected officials by providing the basis from which both sides can develop a stronger working relationship.
